ABOUT GABRIELA

Gabriela Cavanagh is an award-winning documentary director, cinematographer, and editor whose work explores music, performance, and the creative process. Her feature debut, REBBECA—a cinematic portrait of Becky G during the making of her most personal album—premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Festival and will screen globally in theaters (Trafalgar Releasing).

Her work has been featured on Hulu, PBS, NY-Times Op-Docs, VICE Media, and Quibi, including Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi—nominated for a Primetime Emmy—and the acclaimed series NightGowns with Sasha Velour. Her independent shorts, including Sustained Outrage, Otrolado, and Manuel, have premiered at festivals such as AmDocs, New Orleans Film Festival, Big Sky Documentary Festival, and Telluride Mountainfilm.

Gabriela’s storytelling spans the worlds of drag artists, legendary breakers, contemporary dancers, and clowns—celebrating creativity in all its forms. She has collaborated with artists including Shakira, Bad Bunny, Doja Cat, Sabrina Carpenter, Sasha Velour, and Padma Lakshmi, and with production partners such as Part2, The Documentary Group, Firelight Media, Lady & Bird, Condé Nast, VICE Media, Refinery29, REI Co-op Studios, and Live Nation Studios.

She works locally in London, NYC and Lima, Peru, where she is from.
